Kicking off a new SWPL era
The Brief
2022 signalled a new era for the Scottish Women's Premier League (SWPL). Following consultation with clubs and a review of the women's game in Scotland, a new identity was needed for the SWPL leagues and cup competitions.
The Work
The new modern league identity, created collaboratively with the SWPL, features two saltires interwoven to form a football-shaped emblem.
This design not only reflects a strong Scottish identity with its tartan-like effect, but also weaves the leagues together to symbolise the unity amongst the competing clubs. This woven motif could also easily be adapted to form the shape of the SWPL cup trophy.
A digital-first colour palette was employed to reflect a modern league and offer a contemporary twist on the traditional Scottish colours found in our national flags.
